For a residential connection the Government of India pays Rs 30,000 for a 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW and Rs 78,000 for 3 kW and above. The amount is credited directly to your bank account after commissioning and net-meter installation. Commercial and industrial connections are not covered by this scheme.
Roughly 100 sq ft of shadow-free roof per kW on a standard structure. A 3 kW home system needs about 300 sq ft. On an elevated structure the space below stays fully usable.
With net metering your extra units are exported to the Torrent Power grid and adjusted against your consumption in the same billing cycle, so your meter effectively runs backwards during the day.
Site survey and design takes 2 days, material delivery 3 to 5 days and installation 2 to 3 days. Net meter installation depends on the Torrent Power division office and usually takes 2 to 4 weeks after commissioning.
25 years performance warranty on modules (30 years on TOPCon), 5 to 10 years on the inverter as per make, and 5 years workmanship warranty from SIDA SOLAR. The first 12 months of maintenance are free.
Generation drops during heavy cloud cover but does not stop. Ahmedabad gets its rain between late June and September; sizing already allows for it, and the surplus generated from October to May balances the year out through net metering. Gujarat settles net-metering credits annually, so a strong March does make up for a wet August.
